About us

Share, learn, teach, dream

In May of 2018, we met at a monthly Stitch & Hoot in Elgin, Texas. We were both sharing about things we were trying to figure out for our own small creative businesses. We both work demanding day jobs and we were looking for ways to nurture our businesses so that they fulfill our creative needs.

A community is born

We talked about how cool it would be to have a local group for women makers and artists whose sole function was to fully support each other creatively and help each other navigate branding, social media, marketing, and general business best practices, areas we often found challenging as non-digital natives! We both woke up the next morning knowing we needed to start one and couldn’t wait to talk to about it. We made plans to meet for lunch and talk about our vision for the group, and the rest, as they say, is history (or more to the point, herstory).

Since the beginning, our community has left each monthly meeting feeling so encouraged and ready to learn more and do good work. We are always pushing each other to do things sooner than we would have on our own. Being part of this amazing group of talented and brilliant women is both humbling and inspiring. We always look forward to sharing our dreams, failures, and successes over dinner, or for the past year, via Zoom. One of the best things about our meetings is that each of us has the opportunity to be both student and teacher.

We founded She Creates Union on the premise that nothing is more valuable than sharing our experiences to help each other make better decisions.

Community events

In December 2019 we hosted our first Luna Market, a curated outdoor evening market that showcases local women artisans & makers, local food, and entertainment, with a little bit of theater and whimsy. Luna Market has quadrupled in size since then. We’re hosting our 6th and largest Luna Market to date on Friday, April 23rd, 6-9 pm.

She Creates Union also hosts an annual pie social and is looking forward to offering in-person workshops and socials as soon as possible.
